ARTISTS:

1. Kalaya Phongsathorn (Flute)

Kalaya Phongsathorn has been the flute and piccolo player of The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra since 2011. Throughout her orchestra career, she has opportunities to perform under the baton of Maestros Pierre Soudant, Hikotaro Yazaki, Charles Olivier-Monroe, Adrian Prabava, and Michel Tilkin, with renowned soloists such as Jian Wang, Alice Sara Ott, Krystian Zimmerman, Stefan Dohr, etc. Kalaya also performs regularly with the Sawasdee Woodwind Quintet which she co-founded, in Thailand and overseas. The Quintet attended international competitions such as the Terem Crossover Competition in Russia, 2010 (semi-finalist) and the Woodwind Festival in Singapore, 2014 (special mentioned prize). It also received invitations to be guest artists and give workshops in many festivals such as The Macao Band Festival in 2015, The China-ASEAN Music Festival in Nanning, China in 2017, The Thailand

International Composition Festival from 2015-2019, and recently presented its innovative research and performance at The International Double Reed International Symposium (IDRS) in Boulder, Colorado, USA in 2022.

Kalaya received her Bachelor Degree of Fine and Applied Arts from Chulalongkorn Univerity and graduated with summa cum Laude (first class honors). She was selected as a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra and was awarded a full scholarship from the Austrian

government to the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in 2006. Kalaya pursued her Master Degree of Music at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Thailand. Her principle instructors included Ass.Prof.Dr. Charunee Hongcharu, Ass.Prof. Worapon Kanweerayothin, Mr. Suncheep Vidhayanakorn, Univ.Prof.Mag. Robert Wolf (former principal flutist of the Vienna

Symphony Orchestra) and Mr. Roberto Alvarez (principal piccoloist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra). She also had master classes with Susan Hoepner at the Julius Baker International Flute Master Classes 2002, Sir Jame Galway in 2003, Claudio Montafia in 2004 and Robert Aiken at the Forum Flute and Piano in Luxembourg in 2011.

Her contribution to the development of the flute community in Thailand extends to organizing various major flute master classes and festivals since 2012, inviting world-renowned artists such as Robert Aiken, Trevor Wye, Jasmine Choi, Viviana Guzman and Julien Beaudiment. Her achievements expands beyond music where she is also a certified yoga instructor. She has incorporated yoga into her performance practices and has been frequently invited to give yoga for musicians workshops in music festivals in Thailand and abroad since 2015. Currently, Kalaya is an adjunct flute and chamber music lecturer at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, the Rugby School Thailand and owns a private Music and Yoga Studio, Baanflute.

2. Pasatorn Stieniti (Harp)

Pasatorn Stieniti had his opportunity to study with many teachers that expert in Harp; Jie Zhou, Heleen Vandeputte, Dharavadee Khanothai, Loiuse Wiggins, Paulina Porazinska, Reyes Benito Gómez, Ema Mitarai, Ji Min Lee, Elizabeth Jaxon and Elinor Bennett.

Pasatorn also took part in many concerts and competitions such as getting chosen to present his compositions in J.O.C. (Junior Original Concert), seated as a Harp player for 'Wind', composed by Dr.Anothai Nitibhon for Judpragai Concert Series 27 # "Concert for Green Global Village", seated as a Harp player in Improvisation for a silent film, "Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness", First Prize Royal Award of Electone Solo Open Age Section in Yamaha Thailand Music Festival 2005 and 2008, represented Thailand in Asia Electone Festival 2008 Open Age Section in Indonesia by his own compositions in every competitions and he was also invited as a guest artist in Yamaha Thailand Music Festival 2009.

Pasatorn graduated from the Faculty of Music, Silpakorn University and seated as harpist in National Symphony Orchestra of Thailand.

3. Pana Yontararak (Piano)

Pana Yontararak, debuted his musical path with his 1st Prize from the 6th Nat Studio Piano Competition. At the age of 18, he was accepted among the 12 contestants to participate in the Grieg International Piano Competition in Oslo, Norway. Later years, he won 2nd prize Concours de Piano de Chatou, Superieur Level in France and 3rd prize from Riviera della Versiglia Piano Competition in Italy.

Following in the tradition of his family, raising funds to benefit charities has been Pana’s passion.

In Thailand, most of his concerts were for the benefit of helping blood disease patients with the Gift of Life Foundation. Pana is most grateful that the late Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana had graciously presided over his Debut Recital in 2003. The concert was the starting point of the work of The Gift of Life Foundation till today.

Pana won an Albert Roussel scholarship to study at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Alfred Cortot, Paris, France along with a special grant from Khun Charoen and Khunying Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi. Then, Pana moved to Italy to study under Maestro Pierpaolo Levi and Maestro Uberto Martinelli and recieved "Diploma di corso di alto perfezionamento in pianoforte” from Accademia di Musica Ars nova, Trieste. Later he went to further his studies at Conservatorio di Musica “Francesco Morlacchi” di Perugia under Stefano Ragni then later on under Patrizio Cerrone, with whom he obtained a Diploma with maximum votes from the jury (10 e Lode). Pana became the first Thai piano student to be accepted and to graduate from this State Conservatory in Italy with a prestigious award of Luigi Castellini for the most outstanding student in 2013.

Currently, Pana is a full-time piano teacher and Academic Director at Nat Studio, the family's leading private piano institute of Thailand. He is also a Guest Lecturer at the Institute of Music Science and Engineering, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
