About the event

ABOUT:

This concert is a vibrant showcase of Thai contemporary classical music, embodying SALA's dedication to promoting the nation's composers. Oboist Nuttha Kuankajorn, a leading figure in Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO), takes this mission to heart by presenting an all-Thai program, a testament to her passion for the local musical landscape. The performance features a diverse range of works, including the poignant "Threnody" by National Artist Dr. Narongrit Dhamabutra, a tribute to the 2020 pandemic victims. From the Muay Thai-inspired "Flying Swan" by Yos Vaneesorn to Akkra Yeunyonghattaporn's introspective "Ohne Worte" and Morakot Cherdchoo-ngarm's "Sonata for Oboe and Piano" which draws from Thai classical melodies and literature, the concert promises a captivating blend of cultural heritage and Western classical forms. The program culminates with Balee Pongklad's "In (out of) Sync," a playful exploration of unusual instrumental pairings, all demonstrating the virtuosity and expressive power of Thai compositional talent
