TIPWATOO ARAMWITTAYA:
Her path to becoming a classical musician for the Steinway Educational Partner, Tipwatoo (Pin) Aramwittaya, was unusual; her fascination with the science led to her undergraduate studies in biomedical science, before she decided to push her piano performance to the next level at the Royal College of Music, London.
Her debut piano recital in Bangkok in 2014 was a huge success, which was followed by her obtaining an FTCL diploma and winning third prize from the Osaka International Music Competition. She has had the opportunity to take masterclasses both in Thailand and abroad with numerous acclaimed artists such as Ms. Rebecca Penneys, Christopher Harding, Roberta Rust, Tannis Gibson, Artas Balakauskas, and Martin Widmaier. At the Royal College of Music, she has been selected to perform in several concerts including the 150 years Bach-Busoni concert, Keyboard Music Festival and several Rush hour and Lunchtime concerts. She had also taken the initiative when His Majesty the King of Thailand passed away to put together a full house remembrance concert, playing H.M. the King’s compositions.
Having a science background, the MSc in Performance Science course at the Royal College of Music was an exciting opportunity for Pin to explore the science behind musical performance, shedding light on the different aspects of what it means to be and what is involved in being a performer. She holds two master’s degrees - MSc in Performance Science and MPerf in piano performance from the Royal College of Music, London. During her studies in London, she worked closely under the supervision of Professor Gordon Fergus Thompson. As a chamber musician, she enjoys working with string players and had received coaching from renowned teachers such as Richard Lester, Jane Chapman and Geoffrey Govier on period instruments such as the fortepiano and the harpsichord. Alongside classical music, she also enjoys exploring exciting contemporary repertoires.
She is currently a collaborative pianist for the saxophone studio at the College of Music, Mahidol University and is the founder of Pin’s Piano Studio.
