ABOUT: Experience an unforgettable evening of music with acclaimed French pianist Dimitri Malignan, making his Thailand debut with a programme that blends lyrical intimacy, poetic beauty, and dazzling virtuosity.
The concert begins with two beloved works by HM King Rama IX, “Still on My Mind” and “Love,” arranged for piano by Nat Yontararak. These heartfelt pieces, rooted in memory and devotion, open the evening with a uniquely Thai resonance. Malignan then turns to the charm of Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words, where melody flows with effortless grace.
From there, the stage is lit with the music of Chopin—two fiery Polonaises and two delicate Mazurkas—revealing both the patriotic strength and tender lyricism of the composer’s voice. A rare highlight follows in Clara Schumann’s Nocturne, a luminous gem of Romantic piano writing, before the programme culminates with Robert Schumann’s Faschingsschwank aus Wien, a vibrant and expansive masterpiece brimming with wit, passion, and brilliance.
